Crappy rainy weekend

I'm getting sick of the usual June Seattle weather... a couple days in the 80s followed by a couple days in the 50s, 80s, 50s, 80s, 50s. Ad nauseum. No yard work for me this week end. Cold (50s) wet, and windy.

Bob and I went over to future son-in-law's house to help them replace the floor in their bathroom. They gutted it and bought a new vanity and light fixtures. Bob showed them how to lay the 4" ceramic tiles. He going over there tomorrow to see how they did with the grout. I'm hoping it's not a complete disaster but Bob has more confidence in them than I do.

I went with my girlfriend to see West Side Story at the 5th Avenue Theatre in downtown Seattle. I loved the music and dancing but I hated the story. Everyone gets killed off at the end. Yeah, I knew it was a tragedy (have seen the movie several times) but it still was not pleasant to watch. This is why I love romance... I need a HEA.

My girlfriend drove me crazy through the whole thing... she kept talking out loud and asking me what was going on!!!!! I was ready to strangle her. I tried whispering back but she never got the hint. I should have just shrugged. I have gone with her to several plays and musicals and she does this occasionally but this time she was worse than usual. She wants to see some more plays together in the coming months and I'm trying to figure out a way to get out of it without hurting her feelings.

I'm trying to finish my review of Vision of Heat by Nalini Singh by tomorrow. We'll see.

I was going to e-mail you back about that painting over wallpaper. I have seen designers say it's perfectly fine and I want to scream! They will not have fun peeling that off and since I have never completed an entire reno job by myself, I have major respect!

I guess you and your friend aren't close enough for you to look at her and ask if she's nuts ;) I have had people try to do this and I ignore them. If they continue I pull attitude and say stuff like 'Are you kidding me!? Zip it!'

Yeah, I'm not sure why I have friends ;)

LOL My best friend does the talking through movies and such all the time too! It drives me bonkers, but I love her so I get over it ;)

Cindy: Do you have any hints on how to remove the wallpaper because I'm stumped. Bob says we should just replace the drywall but that seems rather extreme.

Yeah, she thinks we are close but really we aren't. We met years ago at my church and our daughters are the same age, but she has so many problems that they seem to dominate all conversations. It's a lopsided relationship. She gets her feelings hurt easily so I'm sort of hesitant to say anything. We used to go to plays quite a bit together but I got sick of the talking and have been avoiding it but this time she was determined and nagged and nagged until I gave in. I'm a wuss.

Alie: LOL, that makes a difference. I do care about her but she's not my favorite person sometimes.

Drywalling sounds like man's job so I would go for that ;)

Other than trying to find the seams and then pull the paper off I have no clue. I have never had the misfortune to have to scrap off painted paper. There are those scratchers that are supposed to score the paper and then I always use just warm water. The last reno house we had to wash every square inch of the walls to get the glue off. Harsh work but worth it to keep the plaster walls.

Good luck!

And having friends that get their feelings easily hurt is hard. I would definitely go with the ducking the calls and my best friend can get horribly wrapped up in her own stuff. Not cool!

Cindy: Thanks for the tips. I think I'll try to scrap it off first like you said then use the warm water. If that doesn't work I'll set Bob to work. I can hear him groan now. Your friend sounds a little like mine. She went through a horrible divorce and I was her sounding board for several years and in all that time I don't think she heard a single word I said about my life.

Wow, I haven't touched my blog in over 6 years and I'm still logged in!  Good thing because I have no idea what my password is.  In ...
