Apologies to everyone for being such a lousy blogger. Work has been killing me and I'm not a happy camper right now. I'm on my 16th day straight of work and it's only Tuesday. By Friday I will have worked 19 straight days and I'm taking the weekend off come hell or high water.
Last year about this time I was complaining about being bored with nothing to do except write test plans. Well, I'm not bored anymore. I like being busy but this is ridiculous. We are in a crunch period right now and I'm trying to do my part and contribute to the team effort but I have HAD IT. To top it off we are having beautiful weather and I can't get out and enjoy it. We don't get that many warm sunny days and I'm spending them inside. I want my life back. I want to be able to do laundry (can't believe I said that), water my plants, weed the garden (yes, I enjoy that), go to dinner with friends, go shopping, visit blogs, and MOST IMPORTANT.... READ.
OK, shut up, Renee. Enough whining! Sorry, again. :)
I managed to squeeze in some reading time and finished Crazy Love by Tara Janzen and LOVED IT!!! This is the 5th book in the Crazy series with Dylan Hart, Special Defense Force commander, and Skeeter Bang's story. Although appearances are made by several past characters, they played a minor part. It was very fast paced featuring three storylines that were all very well done. All the action with muscle cars, high tech gadgets and weapons kept me on the edge of my seat and there was never a dull moment. But don't think the romance was short changed because Dylan and Skeeter's story was wonderful. Janzen has a way of writing a single love scene that is so sensuous and so drawn out to perfection that it feels like three or four love scenes. The secondary characters, Travis and Red Dog (Gillian), also have a hot love scene. Dylan is very tortured but has had the hots for Skeeter for a long time. Skeeter is a kickass heroine who doesn't take any crap. Some bloggers didn't like this book but it is my favorite of the series. A keeper! For those who a looking for a great summer beach book, this is it.
My grade: A-
The 6th book in the Crazy series, Crazy Sweet, is due out soon and features Travis and Gillian's story. Janzen's website mentions that she is writing another SDF Steele Street book titled On The Loose but I'm not sure if it is a continuation of the Crazy series.
Reading now: The Nightingale's Song by Kathleen Eschenburg and loving it. Thank you Wendy & Kristie for mentioning it. Very emotional so far and I think it gets even more so (ok, I peeked for just a couple sentences).
An avid reader of all types of romance - historical, paranormal, contemporary, romantic suspense - with some mystery and science fiction thrown in.

Missed you! A friend of mine has the whole Crazy series. Once she reads them, I get them. I'm looking forward to it. I've heard alot of good things.
Sucks about work. But at least you got in one good book. :P I'm just starting the third in this series and I'm loving it so far!
Crazy Love seemed to get the most mixed reviews of all of the series. Me - I, like you loved it! And isn't The Nightengale's Song wonderful???? One of those I had sitting around for years without reading it and just picked it up out of the blue. I was so glad that I did!
Wow! Her fifth book is already out? I tried on her first book but put it down and it was over. Do you think I could read this one without reading the others?
Sorry that work is riding you. I remember when you were celebrating a project and I was all 'you get treated like that!?' I guess this would be the horrible flip side of that coin. I don't know how you are doing it because I would have bailed after a standard 5 days.
Get the weekend off so you can enjoy the sun!!

Devonna: I've like all of the books in this series although the plots are rather farfetched. IMHO this one was the best so far.
Ames: I was happy to find something good to read with all this chaos at work. It helps relieve the stress.
Kristie: I finished TNS and is was wonderful. A buried treasure. Thanks for blogging about it.
Cindy: Yeah, there are pros and cons to this type of work. My manager said we get treated to lunch or a movie (or both) when all this is over. I think you could read this one without reading the others.
