Updating my blog

I'm starting to think I need a new blog template. A person can only stand a pink background for so long. I'd really like one with three columns so must start looking around for a new one.

Finally getting around to updating my sidebar. I updated the link for KarenS and added some new-to-me reader blogs (I hope I have the links right). Most of them have been around for awhile and I've just discovered them. It's starting to get hard to keep up with all these blogs so I have been trying to update my Kinja account too and hopefully things will get easier.

Nath
Devonna
Mailyn
Dylan
Kimber
Fiona
Valeen
Dancechica
Alie
Rosie
C2
Jennie

I wish Maili would show up again. I hope she's just taking a break and has not abandoned her blog completely.

In other news... I'm the Test Lead this week at work and have managed not to set the building on fire or get myself in trouble YET. But I have had a stomach ache all week so I think the stress is getting to me. I really want a long vacation but we'll probably wait till Christmas. Bob wants to go to North Dakota to visit his folks but I'm balking at the idea. Spending four days driving in the car (two days each way) and then being cooped up in their little house while the snow blows with below zero temperatures is NOT my idea of a vacation.

Reading today: Cover of Night by Linda Howard. This is a book on tape and I'm about at the halfway point. I'm enjoying it so far. Plot seems a bit farfetched though.

I've been looking for a three column template for ages but haven't been able to find anything that I truly love, or that I can instal with little or no technical knowledge! LOL!

Rene, I was feeling the blog blahs when I went to GemmaK for a blog lift. I'd heard about her on KarenS page. I don't know why she quit designing but I'm soooo glad I got mine done before she went on hiatus. Finding a template and then tweaking it was an extremely time consuming and laborious job for me.

Since your site is new to me I think it looks great!

Hey, some of those sites are new to me too. LOL Thanks for sharing. :P

I think your template still looks pretty good.

As for that stomache ache thing....I can relate. I have to let some people go next week and I don't even know if I'll have my own job long term so I definitely have that sick feeling...at the time.
This is a good time to read some good romance novels, eh? :-)

geez, that was supposed to be 'all the time' not 'at the time'.

It was your template change that inspired mine (okay, months later but I was trying to do one on my own. Then I baled ;))

Bob said something today about how if I could make the blogging thing pay money it would be great. I think he was being an ass ;) It's to the point where I know I'm not getting to everyones everyday. Hey, when the snow flies nobody will be able to get rid of me.

As for tummy troubles? The live with me. I'm sorry that the stress is not treating you to something better, like, uh, softer skin!! Yeah, that would be better.

Like you, vacation is time with Bob. Other than that, it's all work for me. I hope you guys find more time to get away!!

North Dakota at Christmas? Last time I did that, there was a blizzard and I was snowed in at my uncle's house for two days. This thing wasn't expected so we had just driven in for the day and were going to go back that night (we were visiting and had been staying at another uncle's house only about an hour away). PS ~ 2 days. No change of clothes. My sister and I were wearing matching reindeer sweatshirts because we were at the age when my mom thought it was cute for us to wear matching clothes. No, we're not twins. I'm older by 10 months.

The biggest thing I remember is we got Igloos for Christmas. Anyone remember those? They were plastic red rectangles that you scooped snow in to make your very own igloo. I don't think we ever succeeded. But, we tried.

I had the blog blahs for a while. I wanted a three column one but couldn't find one. I would even pay for it if it was easy to in reason. But I had to customize my blog so I settled for my new skin that was free. I really like it, for a while anyway. Next time 3 column for sure. If you find one let us know where!

Good Luck!

Marg: Yeah, I have a feeling it's going to be hard to find. It may take me a few months cuz I just don't have the time lately.

Rosie: Gee, thanks! Yes, I've done it a couple times, and it's very time consuming but fun to me.

Kyahgirl: That sounds terrible. I think I'd be sick too if I ever had to let someone go. That's why I hestitate about pursuing a management position. It would tear me up. Hope it goes OK for you.

Cindy: I inspired you? Wow, you just gave me the warm fuzzies, thanks! I love your new blog look, you should be proud. Yeah, the tummy problem went away on our 4 day weekend so I figure it's work related. I'm going to push Bob to consider a week of vacation at Thanksgiving. Wish me luck.

Devonna: Oh, wow, so you have relatives in ND too. I just realized that you are from Montana. I have spent a lot of time in my life driving through Montana, winter and summer, on our way to ND. We drove through one blizzard just west of Missoula and I remember having to roll down the window to hang my head out to find the white line on the road. And another blizzard when my son was about a year old we were at my MIL house in northwest ND at Christmas. He came down with bronchitis and was very sick and we couldn't get him to the hospital. It eventually cleared around midnight and we bundled him up (it was about 30 below) and made a dash to the local hospital (about 20 miles away). Fun times.... NOT! I hate blizzards.

Renee ~ My relatives on my Mom's side are pretty much ALL Northwestern North Dakota. Pretty much anywhere from Williston to Minot I have relatives.

Just West of Missoula? Wouldn't be chance be the road between Missoula and Hamilton would it? I hate that stretch it in the winter time. My biological father lives there and I try to only go to that area when the weather is nice.

I hate blizzards too. And it seems they hit everytime I go to North Dakota for Christmas

Nikki: I'll let you know if I find a site with some free 3 column templates. It may take some time. Or I may figure it out on my own ... doubt it though.

Devonna: Yes, I remember Hamilton! And it was very near there. My in-laws lived 80 miles north of Williston near a little town called Noonan which is about 15 miles from Crosby (if you know where that is). They have recently moved to Minot since they are getting very elderly and want to be near doctors and hospitals. Montana is a beautiful state, it's just so damn BIG to drive across :)

Renee ~ Yes, I know where Noonan and Crosby are. My aunt's in-laws are in Crosby (or I should say, were). My family for the most part are in Tioga, Minot, Kenmare and Bowbells so I'm familiar with the area. I've never lived there but travelled that way for several holidays and vacations growing up.

Dev: Wow, what a small world. I have been to all those places at one time or another since Bob has relatives all over that area too. Cool!
