Recap - 2009 Reading Log

KristieJ inspired me to post a recap of my 2009 reading. It turns out I read 125 books this year, the least amount since I started keeping a reading log in 2002. This sort of surprised me since I have been unemployed this year, but looks like I spent more time job searching and attending school than reading. Go figure.

Here's how it breaks down by date published:

2009: 37
2008: 25
2007: 8
2006: 5
All the rest: 75 (ranging from 1982 - 2005)

58 out of 125 were from my TBR pile. The rest were newly bought and immediately read (I don't count these toward my TBR) or were library books. I don't buy hardback so I must get them from the library.

I don't have patience with books I hate so I mark them as DNF. One surprise: I really disliked Beth Kery's Wicked Burn which lots of bloggers loved. I love erotic romance but this one did nothing for me. Not sure I'll try her again.

My favorite 2009 books were all historical romances:
The Madness of Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley
Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas
To Beguile a Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt

I start back to school tomorrow for Winter Quarter and it's going to be hard to keep up with my blog and reading. I'll try to keep you posted.

It's hard not to be disappointed when the numbers go down, but 125 is still a very good effort!

Have fun in school :) You know how they say best time of your life is when you're a student? :P

I think it's good that you have the guts to put books as DNF. So many people are wishy-washy... they don't enjoy the book, but at the same time, don't want to put DNF grade...

Great list! And 58 from your TBR pile is an amazing number. I hope I can do that well this year. :)

You weren't the only one who didn't like Wicked Burn. It was one of my few DNF for 2009.

I forgive you for the C+ for Anne Stuart's Rocky Road - I think I loved that one and called it George - maybe needs to be re-read.

I was going to try Justine Dare again but I can see I made the right choice ;)

Oh! Just noticed a few Anne Stuart's higher up the list! OMG - Wild Thing - I loved that one - lol funny moments.

Looks like I need to read Connor's Way by Guhrke and hmmm, that Sherry Thomas one Not Quite A Husband - is it sexy? I was worried it might be a 'kisses' only type of book and you know how I feel about those ;)

Okay, I've bent your ear plenty.

Continued success in school!! And we'll be here when you find time. Now, how do I save this post for future reference.

Marg: Thanks. I set my 2010 goal for 150 and we'll see how that works out :)

Nath: Yes, I felt I had to go with the DNF rating. Doesn't mean exactly an F grade. I rarely give a book an F because if it's that bad to me it's out the door. Of course, it could also mean if I had more patience it could be an OK book.

Leslie: My TBR is down to about 70 and that's more manageable. I kept seeing all these great reviews for Wicked Burn and wow, it just didn't work for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Cindy: I had a huge pile of Stuart oldies and thought I'd tackle them this year. And they were all over the board. LOVED Wild Thing - wasn't it great. Conor's Way may be hard to find but worth it. Not Quite a Husband was HOT - just what you like. To bookmark this post just click on the title of the post and then create a bookmark.

Renee - awesome - I also copied and pasted this to my e-mail so I had a copy ;) I have Connor's Way in the TBR pile. I know, I'm bad.

And hot? I'm in!

Wow!! Loved looking at your list and we have SUCH similar tastes!! The only one we have different views on was Wicked Burn! And Lord Ian was my favourite read of the year. All your A books I was nodding and going yup, me too, yup me too - with the exception of The Golden Touch, Make Me Yours and Not Quite a Husband none of which I've read yet.

Cindy: Oh, good, you have Conor's Way (I had a heck of a time finding it). I hope you try NQAH too.

Kristie: Yup we do have similar tastes. I have very rarely read a review of yours that I disagreed with. It always amazes me :)

Wow, I haven't touched my blog in over 6 years and I'm still logged in!  Good thing because I have no idea what my password is.  In ...
