Well, I'm back again. Miss Unreliable. Still job hunting and finally facing the fact that I have been slightly depressed about it. I recently made the decision to go back to school and wonder of wonders I started getting some energy back. Part of the problem with my job hunt is that I really was not looking forward to finding another Software Test Engineer job. I love parts of the job, and the other parts I hate. I attended a seminar at the state unemployment office and it really opened my eyes. There are some worker retraining programs available to upgrade your skills that are paid for by the state and one program really caught my interest. If I get into it, I'll let you know. If not, there are some other programs that were interesting as well. Also, I found out that I'm getting a $70 a week raise in my unemployment compensation... part of the federal stimulus package. Woohoo! Go Obama!
The one thing that has not changed is that I continue to read quite a bit (hey, if I can't get the energy to do anything around the house I might as well read). And I made a list of the B+, A- and A books and have started writing some reviews. Let's hope I get a bunch done before procrastination rears its ugly head again.
An avid reader of all types of romance - historical, paranormal, contemporary, romantic suspense - with some mystery and science fiction thrown in.

Wow. Go You!! I'm sorry life has been hard but I hope you get into the program you want. And no worries, I have procrastination partying itself out at my house. When will summer get here!?
Cindys
Cindy: I can hardly wait for summer. We have some nice warm days interspersed with cold dreary days. I have a meeting Monday with a counselor and figure out what program I can get. Life is getting better. Now if I can only get over this cold that Bob brought back from his last trip. Yuck.!
I understand how you feel. The bookstore I worked in for almost 10 years closed the end of January, and it very depressing. We were like family (co-workers and regular customers) in there, which made it harder.
I'm not used to not working, and the job search is unbelievably frustrating and depressing since there is NOTHING out there. Very scary.
I'm just trying to take things one day at a time and keep my head above water. Hopefully, things will improve for all of us who are in the same boat in the near future!
KarenW: You and I are in the same boat. There is NOTHING out there for me either. I have to dig and dig on the search websites.. That's why I think a "skills update" program would really benefit me. I feel the same way about my former co-worker. I miss them. It's hard to keep your spirits up but I truly believe things will turn around eventually but it's hard to wait around for it. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck to you, Renee! (To both of us. )
Glad to see you blogging again! :)
Good luck with school! That sounds exciting to try something new.
Thanks, Christine.
