No, not the house or the yard. The TBR mountain. I don't know what the hell got into me lately but I got this powerful urge to clean it out. I had about 250 books in there and it occurred to me that I will probably NEVER read a bunch of those books. I have tried cleaning it out numerous times before but was never very successful at it.
But this time I was ruthless (well, more ruthless). It's now down to 197 so far. I could no longer remember why I had bought some of them. I may have seen a good review or saw a recommendation on a message board, or got out of control at a library used book sale, but now I had no clue why I had them. Lots of them were categories and I read very few categories anymore (what was I thinking?) It feels so good! I posted them at PBS so maybe I'll get more credits.
I'm not sure how many more I'm going to purge, maybe 20 or 30 more, but some I just won't part with (including 10 old categories by Anne Stuart).
I feel the urge to go shopping for more books. Hmm, weird.

Ahhh...purging and weeding the TBR is always a challenge isn't it? I picked up and read DIRTY earlier this week while doing that. Funny how that works sometimes isn't it?
Yup, it's as if the guilt over the size of my TBR has made hold back from buying. I feel sort of set free now. BTW, how did you like DIRTY. I have heard mixed reviews.
Dibs on the Stuarts!!!
Wait.
Dangnabbit!
I think I have to do some culling - I have started a few books and quickly put them down again. I keep holding on thinking it was just me but I know deep down, probably not ;)
CindyS
Cindy: No, no, you already have them all! I'm sure. Yeah, I got rid of the ones I had been holding on to with not a twinge of regret. I don't think it's you. Sometimes a book won't work for me when everyone else loves it. Too many books and too little time to waste.
I did this last weekend. Got rid of over 30 books in the end to bring my pile down to 375. oops.
I'll take the Stuarts if Cindy doesn't want/need them lol. I'm loving her stuff lately!
Good for you though totally sizing down the pile. I'm impressed :)
Ames: WOW! 375! Ok, I don't feel so guilty now. 30 books is great and I know how hard that is.
Alie: Oh, you missed the part where I said "won't part with" :) I'm saving them for a rainy day.
LOL I so did miss that part! I was just so excited it all ;)
Renee I have mixed feelings about DIRTY not because it wasn't a good book but because it hit on some of my personal demons. Good writing. I did pick it up and put it down twice before I was hooked into it.
Very worthwhile read, but you can go to my site and my review here:
